Organ Concerts in Budapest

Going to an organ concert in one of the churches in Budapest is a perfect combination of musical entertainment and sightseeing.

St Anne Church

Church of St Anne, Budapest

Organ in Church of St Anne Budapest

The St. Anne Church is one of the most beautiful baroque buildings of Budapest and it regularly houses organ-concerts. The construction of the church started in 1740, according to the plans of Kristóf Hamon, and was completed by Mátyás Nepauer in 1761.

In the next 200 years the church suffered from wars, floods and earthquakes, even it was planned to be demolished, owing to the construction of the metro network. Fortunately this plan was not realised, and the church was reconstructed between 1970-1984.

The programme of the concert was adapted for the organ of this church by Gábor Lehotka,  professor of the Academy of Music in Budapest. Anasztázia Bednarik, Miklós Teleki and László Attila Almásy regularly give concerts in Hungary, Austria, Germany and Switzerland.

Price: adults: 3600 HUF (approx. 14 €), students: 3300 HUF (13 €)

Dates: In May every Friday from 20:00, and from June until the end of September every Friday, and Sunday at 20:00 in the St. Anne Church
The concerts take about 65 minutes without intermission.
