Traditionaly programs of the Budapest Fair (a weekend festival celebrating the withdrawal of the Soviet troops from Hungary in 1999) end with a free concert on Ötvenhatosok tere (large plaza along Dózsa györgy út near Heroes' Square).

Folk Music Concerts in Budapest
Got to a dance house (táncház in Hungarian) to see authentic Hungarian folk music at its best.
Hungary has rich folk traditions including the passionate music and dance that people want to preserve for the next generations. In the dance houses that have became more and more popular since the 1990s you too can listen to Hungarian folk music or learn to dance.

Try to catch a concert of the famous 100-member Gypsy Orchestra (Száztagú Cigányzenekar.) They regularly perform around New Year's Day. The Kalyi Jag group plays the modern versoin of gypsy music.
